Cooking boerewors can be done with tongs in one hand and your favourite beverage in the other. It can therefore be a very social process.

We have put together this simple guide on some simple cooking methods. So if you want to get the best results when cooking boerewors here are your options.

To Barbecue:

Cook on low to medium heat for approx 20 minutes 10 minutes per side. Turn with tongs and do not pierce with a fork when cooking boerewors. This will releases much of the moisture in the sausage and leave your sausage dry.

To Pan Fry :

Place 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a frying pan and put on low heat. Place the sausage in a pan and cook for approx 10 minutes each side, add more olive oil as needed.

Cook Boerewors in the Oven:

Turn on oven and heat to 165 degrees. Place sausage in a heatproof dish that allows the sausage room to expand during cooking so all the coils cook evenly. Drizzle about 1 tbsp olive oil over the sausage. Do not cover and put in oven. Turn sausage over after 10 minutes. Continue cooking for another 10 minutes. Check for doneness. Cook a little longer if necessary and to suit your liking.

Cooking Tips:

Do’s
• Grill over medium heat and turn a couple of times.
• Best served hot

Don’ts

• Dont cut into small pieces or prick with a fork while cooking as that will let the juices out.
